So these guys played at Living on friday..

Last friday, Me and my friend Ant "played" our first gig at a club called Living. Was from 9:30 - 4:00, so we were really roughed up by the end of it. It was our first DJing experience ever, and I have to say it was pretty fucking awesome. 6 hours of tunes was pretty intense. Really nothing of note.
Thankfully the day before, we had called ahead to ask what kind of equipment they had. Unbelievably, they told us they only had turntables and a mixer. Freaking out at the prospect of no CDJs, we had Ableton to save us. Which it did admirably. We stumbled through hip hop, which doesn't flow so well through ableton's auto beat match feature, but we pulled it off.
Made it about two hours in before we could really start even playing shit we liked. My transition I really liked though, because earlier in the night, one of my good friend's older brothers had flown in to HK, and I asked him for a song to play. He told me to get "SF Anthem" by San Quinn Feat. Big Rich & B Banger. Gave it a run through, thought it was sick, and freaked when i heard the sample, the same from Global DJ's "The Sound of San Francisco." So that served to be my bridge between the genres. Later on we threw down some Beens, Barletta, and harder shit and what remained of the crowd was loving it, around 2-3 AM. Made me wish I'd played it earlier, but we kept getting fucking requests for "Infinity" and other shit that made me want to puke. But even so, watching the crowd go wild for a poppy beat was a great feeling.
Coming up we have a gig at a club called Behold, Friday the 27th after the rugby sevens.
Then we have yet another gig at a club called Fever, on the 3rd of April. COME.
