Been trying to step back into the production game while schools been started and these past couple of weeks have been productive! Played a set during Rock the Yard, a charity event for my fraternity at UIUC - recorded and posted below; finished and submitted my remix of Deadmau5's "SOFI Needs a Ladder," vote for me below if you dig; and finally finished a little DJ tool for closing with one of my favorite mixes of Bag Raider's "Shooting Star." Let me know what you guys think!
Plump DJs are back, this time with a new mashup with those pictured above (Kelis, Beatles - but you know that) and it's pretty flame. I attribute my knowledge of them to fellow writer Mack, who hooked me up with some of their stuff eons ago.
Elite Force was kind enough to email me a bunch of new info on himself and the going-on's at U&A Records. First off, they've just launched their new site. Which is linked above. Also up is their new online mini-store. The main page also has links to the individual stores for Elite Force and Zodiac Cartel, both are tracklayer favorites and worth spending bucks on. Also rockin' is the variety packs available from Elite Force on his new EP "Revisit." In his store he offers multiple different download packs for the average listener, the DJ, and the remixer/producer. I wish every artist did that. I heart you, Elite Force. Remix packs make my world go round. Elite Force? Zodiac Cartel? CHECK:
Very pleasantly surprised by Hijack on this next one, heard a couple Hijack mixes in the past and wasn't very impressed but this has changed my mind...
When I found the Dave Darell remix of "Move for Me" I was pretty sure I had heard it before, after searching my iTunes I found the original, it has those kind of vocals that just kind of stick with you in the back of your head. Love this remix, it adds a lil more substance to the track just giving it a fuller over all sound. Download both versions and make up your own mind
Last night was pretty deamy, not gonna lie. We show up a tiny bit late, and Burns is up on the stage rippin it and throwin' mad beats down. He ripped out "Hey!" and A-Trak's "Heads Will Roll" along with plenty of others, and then Ghostland Observatory came on up. I was pretty impressed by them to say the least, and they managed to rock out hard. Great performers, the lights and everything were synced and absolutely psycho. Burns came back out and threw down some intermission beats and got everyone bumpin so when deadmau5 came on out everyone was going nuts. plenty of people brought homemade "Mau5-masks" with glowing lights so it was a pretty ridiculous scene, the crowd was going nuts. He found time to squeeze in some extra love for "You Need a Ladder" with some cool Deadmau5/Zelda linked graphic displays, and he had a cool Bill O'Reilly scene paired to "To Play Us Out" which was nuts. He even found time to throw the Hard Halloween "Hard Intro" up, which drops a quote from the cult-sci-fi-classic "The Brain from Planet Arous." He wore a "blank" mask, which apparently he passed around to the line before i got there, and everyone got to sign his mask. Was pretty pissed when i heard that, but oh well.
Here were some of the beats dropped, CHECK:
Jape - Floating (D.I.M. Remix) ^Burns blew my mind with this, not new but amazing
Deadmau5 - To Play Us Out ^Bill O'Reilly has now joined the list of things i will dance to. (Can't find a non-Sirius-XM rip so I apologize for that, it's still 320 though)
Deadmau5 - You Need a Ladder ^D-Mau5 rocked this one hard, reppin' his g33k background
Ghostland Observatory - Piano Man [160 kbps] ^They opened with this and seriously surprised me
BONUS: Got mad vids from the night, and pictures too, click here for the facebook album.
Tonight is the first day of fuckin' Thanksgiving Break. I am stoked and wired and tired and all over the place but in very few minutes I'm gonna go hit Deadmau5, Ghostland Observatory, and Burns up at Congress Theater in Chi-Town. It's gonna get buck, tickets are $22 and it starts at 8 PM, try and scrounge a ticket up but they seem to rare now. Mini-preview of tonight, CHECK:
Deadmau5 - Catbread ^Amazing song, i waited so long for this to come out.
Ghostland Observatory - Vibrate (Algeronics Remix) ^dirty remix, gives GO a harder edge
Here's a cute little intro mashup i did for some occasion or another. New mixtape comin' in soon, actually a couple but it depends how much free time i can snag myself between classes and pledgeship. Word to yo motha, CHECK:
